There are a number of
asthma home remedies that can bring some relief if you suffer from asthma.
Asthma occurs when the bronchi and bronchioles come in contact with a foreign
material that enters airways. Approximately half of all asthma attacks can be attributed
to allergies.
Even though there are
some natural remedies that can help asthma sufferers breathe a little easier,
it's recommended that you take these home remedies along with the recommended
prescription medications.
Dietary Home Remedies
Chili Peppers. Chili peppers can help
open up the airways. Most experts believe that hot peppers help to stimulate
fluids in the mouth, throat and lungs, thinning out the mucus that has built up
during an asthma attack, so it can be coughed up. Capsaicin, the chemical that
makes peppers so hot also acts as an inflammatory and acts as a bronchodilator
when taken in small doses.
Onions. Onions have
anti-inflammatory properties and have been shown to ease the constriction of
air passages as well.
Vitamin C. Research shows
that people with asthma have low levels of vitamin C and taking about 300 mg
per day can cut wheezing by about 30 percent. Foods high in vitamin C include
orange juice, broccoli, blueberries, strawberries and papaya. Drinking 3
glasses of orange juice is equal to about 300 mg of vitamin C.
Coffee. Research shows
that coffee drinkers have one-third fewer asthma symptoms than those who don't
drink it. Caffeine was once the treatment of choice, because of its
bronchodilating effects.
Salmon. Salmon or any fish
that contain omega-3 fatty acids can help prevent asthma attacks. The fatty
acids enable the lungs to react better to invading irritants.
These are just a few
asthma home remedies that can help sufferers breathe easier.

I have suffered from asthma for fifteen years at a stretch and believe you me it doesn’t get easier with over-the-counter medication. I agree with all the remedies you have presented in your article, especially the onions, pepper, and salmon, because they are readily available. I also came across other resourceful treatments, including meditation & relaxation from the following website: http://survival-mastery.com/med/health/natural-remedies-for-asthma.html
